World's largest River island.

Majuli, the largest river island in the world, is situated in the northeastern state of Assam. Majuli means land in the midst of two rivers. It is formed by the Brahmaputra River in the south and the Kherkutia Xuti joined by the Subansiri River in the north.

Majuli has shrunk tremendously over the years due to climate change. An increase in temperature in the Himalayas melts the ice leading to flash floods along the Brahmaputra river. The island is sustaining on tourism. People from the nearby states visit the island to relax and spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.                                     Only mode of transportation to reach the island is ferry: In order to reach the picturesque island, you have to take a ferry from Jorhat since there are no roads connecting the place.                                      Migration of Beautiful Birds: During the winters, unique birds fly to the island. Tourists mostly visit the place during the winters to catch a sight of the beautiful migratory birds.
