You may wonder why is this door is so thin.   Well,this door is from the monastery of Alcobarca Portugal and it has this characteristic because it was used to keep the monks thin.                                                                                                                             This door of 2 meters high and only 32 centimetres wide was the entrance to the dining room.                                                                     
It was built to prevent overweight gluttonous monks who did not stop eating.                                                                              If they gained weight,it would be impossible for them to enter the dinning hall to eat,so they would be forced to lose weight.
